Prose Meets Poetry, with Lucy Wadham and Sharon Black Dates: Friday 6 – Friday 13 Oct 2023 Cost: 500€ course + 680€ (accommodation and meals) Join Lucy Wadham and Sharon Black for a week of workshops combining poetry and prose, designesd to enrich the craft of each. The retreat will consist of a 2-hour workshop with prompts each morning and a 1-hour group feedback session every evening. The maximum number of participants is 14. Lucy and Sharon will also be able to offer 1-1 mentoring to anyone who has work-in-progress they would like feedback on. Subject to availability, these are geared towards any works-in-progress, whatever the stage of development. Sharon's rate is 50€ / hour and Lucy's is 70€ / hour for reading, editing and/or face-to-face sessions. These can be booked in advance, or on site.
Lucy Wadham has taught Creative Writing at Cambridge University (ICE) and the National Centre for Writing (NCW). She is the author of three novels and a bestselling memoir, 'The Secret Life of France,' all published by Faber. ‘Heads and Straights,’ another memoir was published by Penguin in 2013. She has several TV scripts in development and her debut poetry collection 'Fold' was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize 2020. Sharon Black is from Glasgow and is the author of four full poetry collections, the latest being The Last Woman Born on the Island (Vagabond Voices, 2022), and The Red House (Drunk Muse, 2022) which focusses on the Cévennes mountains. She also has a pamphlet, Rib (Wayleave Press, 2021). Since 2016 she has been editor and publisher of the poetry publisher Pindrop Press. Lucy and Sharon both live in the Cévennes.
